Who We Are
Yi (Emily) Shen
Founder, Host & Website Manager
Emily Shen is a current student at the University of California, Berkeley, where she double majors in economics and statistics. Born and raised in Shanghai, China, Emily has grown to appreciate talking to people from distinct cultural backgrounds.
In her senior year of high school, Emily became increasingly interested in economics. Growing up with her mind set on becoming a lawyer, Emily's wavering opinions about her future career path resulted in the creation of "After the Tassel." Through navigating this journey of uncertainty, Emily hopes to inspire other high school and college students who, like herself, are still experimenting with their various interests.
Sam Wexler
Founder & Host
Sam Wexler currently attends Williams College, where he majors in both computer science and economics. In a conversation during his school’s Career Day, Sam realized that many of his classmates aspire to be consultants or software engineers, yet may have no idea what the actual job entails. Through After the Tassel, Sam hopes to provide clarity on the day-to-day work in different professions and help other students (himself included!) find an enjoyable career.
